Ugandans three opposition leaders are not to be challenged by National Unity Platform (NUP) in the forthcoming general elections.
The three leaders are Jinja East MP Paul Mwiru, Mawokota south Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) flag bearer for the parliamentary seat Counsel Yusuf Nsibambi and Jeema party president Asuuma Basaalirwa for Bugiri municipality MP.
News from Kamwokya indicates that on a meeting of three top leaders of the party including Nyanzi Fred Ssentamu popularly known as Chairman Nyanzi, secretary general Mr David Lewis Lubongoya, and president Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu also known as Bobi Wine, the two convinced the principal to ring fence the positions of the three.
After convincing the principal Chairman Nyanzi took forms of collecting voters signatures of Mpigi district to counsel Nsibambi without noticing NUP branch leaders causing conflicts in Mawokota.
The same was done to Bugiri municipality MP Asumani Basaalirwa who was given forms of Bugiri.
What is not yet clear about this deal, is what did the three do to convince NUP leaders to ring fence their positions?
NUP is yet to declare official flag bearers as Electoral Commission (EC) nomination dates get close.
