Hoima NUP Coordinator Grace Amooti defects back to DP, Mao celebrates. Whisper Eye Reports.
Whisper Eye has learnt that National Unity Platform (NUP) party coordinator in Hoima Asiimwe Grace Amooti has defected back to her former political party, Democratic Party (DP) spending just weeks in the new party.
Ms Amooti is to contest for Member of Parliament seat for Bugahya County in Hoima district on DP ticket.
Asiimwe Grace Amooti is a born of Kitoba, Nyakafunjo village in Hoima District.
She grew up in a political family , influenced by independent spirit of her mother.
Asiimwe graduated with a bachelors degree in Social Works and Social Administration from Ndejje University.
She has worked with quite a number of Civil Society Organizations before actively joining politics.
She is a member of DP National Women league Committee and Coordinator for People Power Movement in Bunyoro sub-region.
Asiimwe’s record has caused her to be described as both progressive and centrist in her political leaning.
She has been a major detractor of the anti-age limit bill which amended the Constitution to allow the president to rule above the age of 75years.
She has also worked with women’s right and advocated for improved healthcare benefits and she’s a member of Nowip an organization of Women in Politics in the country.
DP president Norbert Mao has celebrated Asiimwe’s decision to reconsider her earlier decision to join MP Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu’s new party NUP for DP.
