Advice: Never throw away the foundation stone, Kenya’s Raila Odinga to leaders

Kenya’s High Representative for Infrastructure Development at the African Union hon Raila Baba Omolo Odinga has advised leaders mainly on the African continent not to throw away foundation stones if they are to succeed and develop their communities.

Raila Odinga told young leaders after meeting Robert Njura a man who saved his life in 1991 when he was escaping Kenya to exile on Noway.

Former Leader of Opposition was celebrating the 10th anniversary of the country’s new constitution that restored peace in Kenya.

“Very humbling to meet Robert Njura who steered me in a boat across to safety in Uganda on my way to exile in Norway. Njura is testimony of what the energy, focus and dedication of the youth can accomplish. God bless him and our youth on this tenth anniversary of our constitution,” says Raila Odinga.

“Never ever in life to throw away the foundation stones, God has special blessings to the foundation,” he said.

Raila Odinga was born January 7, 1945, Maseno, Kenya.

He is a Kenyan businessman and politician who served as prime minister of Kenya (2008–13) following the contentious presidential election of December 2007.

Served as the Leader of the Opposition from 2013 to 14 January 2018.

Hon Odinga was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Langata from 1992 to 2013.

He served in the cabinet of Kenya as Minister of Energy from 2001 to 2002 and as the Minister of roads, Public Works and Housing from 2003 to 2005.

Son of the first Vice President of Kenya, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, he draws a large chunk of his support from various regions in Kenya, most notably the Coastal Region and his native former Nyanza Province.

Odinga is commonly known as “Baba”, coincidentally: he was an MP at the same time as his father between 1992 and 1994.

Other nicknames that have been associated with the premier are such as “Nyundo” which is hammer in Kiswahili, “Tinga” which means tractor in Kiswahili a symbol of his National.
