Kawempe North legislator for the last 20 years hon Latif Ssebaggala Ssengendo has finally handed in nomination papers for Kampala Lord Mayorship.

A reliable source intimated to National Unity Platform (NUP) Kamwokya based offices told Whisper Eye News that MP Ssebaggala handed in his nomination forms on Friday August 21, 2020 evening on the closing date.

The longest serving Kawempe North Mp and a brother to Al-hajji Nasser Ntege Ssebaggala ‘Seya’ finally makes his final decision on the path to take in the 2021 election .

He has been entailed in numerous uncertainity about the future of his political carrier and making several U – turns for Kawempe North Mp seat.

This decision was made Friday late amidst closure of Nominations at the People Power Headquarters in Kamwokya.

On the same day the National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential hopeful also returned his expression of Interest forms and was successfully the only Candidate who returned Nomination Forms; This makes Kyagulanyi Robert Sentamu popularly known as Bobi Wine the automatic flag bearer for the People Power Movement Alliance and the NUP.

In picture for Lord Mayorship, could have been that there was an Orchestrated Move by the Kisaasi based family to ring fence the Mayorship Position for Hajj Ssebaggala Latif.

His elder brother, Al-hajjiNasser Ntege, Nabila Naggayi Ssempala a wife to their brother Ssempala all have shown similar interests in the position .

In a similar move Kawempe North Mp invited close allies and a handful of constituents on Saturday evening to inform them of the new development in what seems to be confusing Political moves.

MP Latif Ssebaggala now will be vying for Lord Mayorship with Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) trusted leader Ssalongo Erias Lukwago.

The Move was taken following a recent discussion with the titular Muslim head at Kibuli early this week .

Latif could have smuggled his interests during the indoor meeting held by NUP officials and the Kibuli head Prince Dr Kassim Nakibinge Kakungulu.

According to sources close to Kibuli, it was agreed upon that former Democratic Party (DP) Organising secretary Kidandala Sulaiman Sserwadda be give green lights for NUP party ticket for Kawempe north constituency.

Lord councillor Ssegirinya Muhammad popularly known as ‘Eddoboozi ly’e Kyebando’ is to retain his slot as Lord councillor with NUP ticket.

By the closure of nominations on Friday only three people nominated for the post of Lord Mayorship: Al- hajji Nasser Ntege Ssebaggala, MP Latif Ssebaggala Ssengendo, and afro beat music champion Mr Mayanja Joseph popularly known by his stage name Dr Jose Chameleone.
