Opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) president Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu popularly known as Bobi wine met Women Democracy Group (WDG) ahead of 2021 general elections .

The meeting of National Unity Platform leadership met with the Women’s Democracy Group (WDG) took place at NUP headquarters at Kamwokya.

These very noble women came from different Women’s Rights Organizations, including the Uganda Women’s Network (UWONET), Forum for Women in Democracy (FOWODE), Women’s Democracy Network- Uganda (WDN-U), Action for Development (ACFODE) and the Network for Women in Politics (NOWIP).

“We had a very candid conversation about empowering women in politics and ensuring that they are protected,” says Mr Kyagulanyi.

“The WDG also shared about critical women’s issues developed from the Women’s Manifesto to include in the NUP manifesto and was interested in learning about the plans NUP has in advancing the women’s agenda,” he added.

Hon Kyagulanyi who is also the area MP for Kyadondo East constituency assured WDG that his political party is has a special plan for the women in Uganda.

This was in efforts to ensure that women’s issues are prioritized in the plans, policies and budgets for NUP.

Network for Women in Politics (NOWIP) Chief Executive Officer Ms Babirye Lillian told Whisper Eye News that they must fight for women rights and those in politics must be supported to have gender balance at all levels of elective leadership in Uganda.

Bobi Wine will be taking on President Museveni in a highly anticipated presidential elections come 2021.
