Exclusive: How Kabaka Mutebi ordered Mp Mpuuga , and DP MPs to Join NUP

Last week on Wednesday Nine Democratic Party (DP) Members of Parliament (MPs) officially joined the National Unity Platform (NUP) at Kamwokya party Headquarters.

MPs led by Masaka municipality constituency now, Nyendo-Mukungwe hon Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba, Mukono municipality MP Betty Nambooze Bakireke, Makindye West MP Allan Ssewanyana, Makindye Ssabagabo MP Emmanuel Ssajjalyabeene, Bukomansibi Woman MP Nanyondo Veronica, and Bukoto East MP Florence Namayanja.

MPs joined Kyadondo East legislator Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu’s newly launched Party NUP saying that they need a unifying symbol in the forthcoming scientific elections.

Other MPs include; Kalungu West legislator Joseph Gonzaga Ssewungu, Busiro East MP Medard Ssegona, and Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi, Butambala county.

A reliable source close to Mengo intimated to Whisper Eye that among the meetings organised by Mpuuga between MP Kyagulanyi and Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, they agreed on the move.

The source further informed us that it was also agreed that Mpuuga must be the Vice president of NUP for Buganda region.

“Hon Mpuuga has been groomed by Mengo government, he is a former Buganda youth Minister in Kabaka’s Cabinet, he was trusted to lead MPs to have a solid voice for the Kingdom,” says the source.

MPs also met one of Kabaka’s trusted minister and discussed for the cross over.

In the meeting they argued that they couldn’t have left DP, but they were frustrated by the leadership.

The minister asked Mr Kyagulanyi to stand firm on Buganda issues and demands.

It was also agreed that they will return to DP, after the 2021 mission.
