Uganda’s oldest political party the Democratic party (DP) has lost about Eight Members of Parliament (MPs) to the newly formed National Unity Platform (NUP) party of singer Bobi Wine.

Kyadondo East MP, the supreme leader of People Power, Our Power Movement hon Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu popularly known as Bobi Wine formed NUP last month as a way to defeat president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the forthcoming general elections.

Immediately after the formation of the new political party, new controversies started in main stream DP.

MPs under the DP Bloc (DP, Social Democratic Party (SDP) and People’s Development Party (PDP)) basically from Buganda region welcomed MP Kyagulanyi’s new party.

Whisper Eye is reliably informed that MPs including Butambala County MP Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi, Masaka Municipality MP Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba, Makindye Ssabagabo county MP Ssajjalyabeene, Busiro East MP Medard Ssegona, Bukoto East MP Florence Namayanja, Bukomansimbi Woman MP Nannyondo Veronica, Kyotera district Woman MP Ssentongo Robina Nakasirye have defected to Bobi Wine’s NUP party.

The source further told Whisper Eye that tomorrow Monday August 10, 2020, they are going to hold a press conference in Kampala to officially declare it publicly.

The MPs accuses DP president Norbert Mao for giving out party cards to their rivals in their constituencies, although Mr Mao denied such allegations.

Mr Mao rather labeled MPs under performs who are just looking at winning back their parliamentary seats on 2021.
