Afro beat music star Mr Hillary Kiyaga popularly known as Dr Hiliderman is faced with an uphill task to defeat Museveni’s Minister of Trade, Industry and cooperatives Amelia Anne Kyambadde in Mawokota North constituency, in Mpigi.
Residents in Mawokota North are willing to vote for change, but complain that singer Kiyaga has limited funds to run the campaign.
Whisper Eye reporter based in Mpigi traversed the constituency and where you find one poster of artist Kiyaga, there are over 30 posters, T-shirts and over 100 stickers of Minister Amelia Kyambadde.
Minister Amelia launched a multi billion campaign to earn the third term.
Hon Amelia who has represented the constituency since 2011, declared to contest for the third term, although she had asked for two terms.
Campaigns for the incumbent Minister Amelia confidently say that poor Hiliderman can not win reloaded minister who has been with president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni since 1979.
Mr Kiyaga’s campaigners are stuck as voters are asking them posters of National Unity Platform (NUP ) president Hon Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu also known as Bobi Wine posters and those of Mr Kiyaga.
A reliable source intimate to Kamwokya told Whisper Eye news that singer Kiyaga plans to launch his ground campaign in style.
The big question remains, will Mr Kiyaga mobilise funds to oust National Resistance Movement (NRM) die hard Hon Amelia Anne Kyambadde?
Mawokota residents are to decide in the forthcoming 2021 general elections.
Amelia is the Cabinet Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives in the Ugandan Cabinet.
She was appointed to that position on 6 June 2016.
She has previously served as Cabinet Minister of Trade and Industry between 27 May 2011 and 6 June 2016.
She replaced Kahinda Otafiire, who was appointed Minister for Justice.
Amelia Kyambadde is also the elected Member of Parliament (MP) for “Mawokota County North” in Mpigi district.
