Kampala businessman Eng Richard Ssebamala was on Wednesday produced before Nakawa Court Grade One Magistrate Posiono Odwori who read out the fraud charges to him.

Ssebamala is Uganda Vice president Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi rival who has been sent to Luzira over fraud.

A political rival of Vice-President has been charged and remanded to Luzira Prisons on charges of obtaining money by false pretense.

Eng Ssebamala was on Wednesday produced before Nakawa Court Grade One Magistrate Posiono Odwori who read out the charges to him.

He denied the charges and was sent to Luzira until August 11, 2020, when he will re-appear in court to know the status of the investigations in the matter.

Prosecution alleges that on July 1, 2019, Eng Ssebamala obtained sh150m from a city businessman with intent to defraud.

Whisper Eye News is reliably informed that Eng Ssebamala used the money to break through in Bukoto County Central in Masaka.

He organised consultative meetings in the constituency and those who attended were given huge allowances.

Eng Ssebamala had already expressed intentions to contest against Ssekandi for the Bukoto Central Member of Parliament seat.

According to residents in Bukoto central Eng Ssebamala is popular in the constituency and known for big spending.

Masaka based free lance Journalists Bwekumbule Frank posted police summons for Eng Ssebamala on Social Media two days ago.
