Dr Aggrey Kiyingi promises to rejuvenate his 10bn fund to promote computer awareness in a new Uganda. Whisper Eye Reports
Uganda Presidential hopeful Dr Aggrey Kiyingi faults president Museveni for failing to promote computer awareness in Uganda during this digital era.
Ugandan cardiologist based in Australia Dr Kiyingi, laughed at Mr Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the Uganda Electoral Commission for recommending a ‘scientific election’ in computer illiterate country.
He said that he had initiated a 10bn fund to promote computer awareness in Uganda in May, 2002, which could have created a big impact to the country.
However the project was affected on the way, by the disagreements between president Museveni and Dr Kiyingi who is among the directors of Dehezi International.
Dehezi international based in Uganda’s capital Kampala, helped to sell computers and other organizations at subsidised rates.
It was Dehezi International that designed the Central Broadcasting Services (CBS) FM radio Website, www.cbsfmbuganda.com, launched in 2002.
It became an interactive medium through which listeners can tune-in to the radio over the internet.
During the time an old lady, 84 years, was sponsored by Dehezi international to have a computer and IT awareness short course at the Dehezi International Computer classes.
“I believe in empowerment through education and training. After defeating Museveni we must rejuvenate the program to the entire country,” Dr Kiyingi said.
He opposed the scientific election on argument that local people in Uganda lack computer awareness.
