The opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) president MP Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu has condemned the arrest of popular Comedians locally known as ‘Bizonto’ crew.

Kyadondo East MP Kyagulanyi popularly known as Bobi Wine told Whisper Eye News that Uganda artists are giving president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni sleepless nights.

“The attack on the art industry clearly shows how scared they are. The artists have realised the power of their voices and are using them positively,’ says Mr Wine”.

Singer Bobi Wine who turned into politician has also condemned the arrest of local music singer Gerald Kiweewa.

MP Kyagulangi said that ‘Bizonto Comedy Group’ are under illegal detention because the regime thinks intimidation will silence them.

‘So scared the regime is of artists that they have yet again brought more stringent regulations which are clearly intended to muzzle those of us who use art to propagate the truth,’ MP Kyagulanyi said.

Mr Wine mobilised artists to rise up and stand for their rights.

“The regime thinks they can intimidate us by arresting some of us, but this is the time to realise that we are and have always been on our own.

I guarantee you, when artists come together as one, there is nothing they cannot achieve,” he said.

Yesterday security officials arrested four ‘Bizonto’ crew members; Julius Sserwanja also known as m Kidomoole, Mbabaali Maliseeri popularly known as Uncle Luyuguumo, Sssaabakaaki Peter aks Omuzinyuuzi and Gold Ki Matono aslo known as Opeto.
