Kyadondo East Constituency has attracted about 10 parliamentary candidates after incumbent MP hon Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine declared to contest for president in the forthcoming general elections.

While speaking to his voters hon Kyagulanyi told them openly that he is not standing again for the post.

The meeting was conducted at his Magere home and officially told one of his competitor Counsel Muwada Nkunyingi that “My brother Muwada Nkunyingi I’m not standing, let the people of Kyadondo vote another MP.”

About the 10 aspirants consulting Kyadondo residents to replace Mr Wine, including;

Counsel Muwada Nkunyingi, through his M/s Muwada & Co. Advocates, Mr Muwada has been on the front line to fight for justice.

He is a political activist and a suave lawyer who has challenged injustices in courts of law.

He contested in the last general elections as well as the by election with Pop music star Bobi and others although things did not go well to his side.

Currently he has done a lot of things, including giving out bursaries to school children within the constituency.

He is a mong the top contenders of the seat.

Sitenda Sebalu William; he lost in 2016 to Apollo Kantinti although court nullified Kantinti’s election.

Thus having a by election in 2017, and lost again to hon Bobi Wine.

He is expected to have the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party flag as usual.

Mr Ssebalu is faced with a big challenge, as it may be difficult for the people of Kyadondo to replace Bobi Wine with NRM party candidate given the current situation.

Appolo Kantinti; he is the flag bearer of the Forum for the Democratic Change (FDC).

He won the seat in 2016, but the High Court in Kampala nullified his victory.

On grounds that “Failure to conduct elections under the principals of the law by EC prompts me to set it aside and order for fresh election to be conducted,” the judge ruled.

The High court nullified Mr Kantinti’s election due to non-compliance of electoral rules governing the Parliamentary Elections Act by the Electoral Commission.

Following the nullification of the elections, the Presiding Judge Isabirye Kaweesa ordered for fresh elections be conducted.

Which elections Mr Wine won, although Apollo Kantinti was also a candidate in the race.

Mayor Kasangati town council Mr Tonny Ssepebwa Kiyimba has also joined the race.

He was a campaign of Bobi Wine during the by election.

Mr Ssempebwa is a member as well as a leader in Democratic Party (DP) and many party members have advised him to retain his seat, which he has refused and confidently told them his wish is the parliamentary seat.

Others include; Kayongo Sowedi, Mugenyi Robert Zida, Mujjuzi Pius , Ssewanonda Steven and Simbwa Khalid

With the scientific election which was recommended by the Electoral Commission, many of the new entrants are disadvantaged.
