Reckless LDU mishandles gun, shoots self dead in Agago. Whisper Eye Reports!

A Local Defense Unit (LDU) personnel in Agago district, northern Uganda has died after accidentally shooting himself.

Martin Okello, 24 shot self at around 9:00PM, on Sunday while on duty.

The deceased has been attached to Labwor-dwong army barracks in Paimol Sub County under the 5th infantry Division

Immediately after the incident, he was rushed to Dr. Ambrosoli Memorial Hospital in a critical condition.

Brig Michael Kabango, the 5th Infantry Division Commander told Whisper Eye, that Okello could have discharged a bullet erroneously because of mishandling his firearm.

Brig Kabango says they have commenced investigations to understand whether the deceased attended all the required courses before commissioned.

Arrangements to hand the body to family members for burial are under, as investigation take its course.
