According to Iraqi security sources, a rocket was fired near the American embassy in the high-security Green Zone, on Monday night.
It was stated that the attack caused material damage and there was no loss of life.
Nobody has so far claimed responsibility for this attack as it happened for previous attacks. But Americans often blame pro-Iranian Iraqi forces.
In the past seven months, 28 attacks have been targeting American interests.
Iranian religious leader Ali Khamenei said on Sunday that the US will be expelled from Iraq and Syria.
The USA and Iran have been confronting each other for more than 40 years. After the US administration withdrew unilaterally from the nuclear deal with Iran in 2018, it went back to imposed economic sanctions thus trying to put maximum pressure on the country.
Last January, Iranian general Kasım Süleymani and a Haşdi Şabi commander were killed in Baghdad by the US. The Iranian regime then launched a missile attack on American bases in Iraq and mistakenly downed a passenger plane.
