Domestic violence cases have increased tremendously during this period of Covid-19 lock down and stay home measures.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni declared stay home measures to prevent Covid-19 pandemic in Uganda which experts say its the major cause of domestic violence cases.

The Minister of state for Gender, Peace Mutuuzo, has revealed that 3,280 cases of gender- based violence have been reported to police during this lockdown.

Civil Society Organisations have blamed the recent increase in the number of domestic violence cases to poverty and government failure to provide food and basic needs to needy people in this period of Covid-19 lock down.
