Kenya’s deputy president William Ruto is running out of options in his 2022, presidential race as ground shifts, UYD’s Sewino

Uganda Young Democrats (UYD) National organising Secretary Sewino Lawrence writes off Kenya’s Deputy president William Ruto in the 2022 presidential race.

Mr Sewino is a historian and a political analyst.

According to reliable sources in Kenya, there’s a new political coalition being hatched and propagated comprised of president Uhuru Kenyatta, Rt Hon. Raila Odinga and Hon. Gideon Moi which will unmask the formation of a new political alliance of Jubilee party, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), and KANU, respectively.

Political analyst Sewino states;

My critical analysis of the current situation in the political class of Kenya dates back before the popular president Uhuru Kenyatta and the Rt Hon. Raila Odinga’s handshake.

Sources indicate that a series of meetings were held in 2018 and 2019, before the handshake at the late president Daniel Arap Moi’s home in Kabarak -Nakuru which resulted into the popular handshake and these meetings were attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta, Rt Hon. Raila Odinga, Rt President Kibaki , late president Daniel Arap Moi and Gideon Moi, the son and the political heir to the late president Daniel Arap Moi.

Among very many things they discussed and resolved included burying of their historic grievances and support Rt Hon. Raila Odinga in his presidential bid in 2022, this deal was reached in order to resolve the impasse that had engulfed Kenya after 2017, presidential elections.

This gave birth to the popular presidential handshake and enormous political changes have been witnessed in Kenya up to date are as a result of those meetings.

It is important to note that while all these discussions were going on, H.E, William Ruto was sidelined and the shock which he received after the handshake caused panic not only to him as the deputy president of Kenya but also to his entire team he leads.

In order to combat this new revelation, Ruto’s team resorted to the formation of a pressure group known as Tanga- Tanga, which the deputy president is leading from behind.

However, this group failed to balance the politics of the day and the politics of 2022, where they embarked on sabotaging the four development agendas president Kenyatta had unveiled to Kenyans.

The working relationship continued to deteriorate when the building bridges initiative (BBI), was instituted which H.E William Ruto vehemently detested from onset and his entire team led by Senator Kipchumba Murkomen.

All these widened the lift between the dual as the deputy president was seen as someone who was undermining the president’s big agenda and by extension his legacy.

It is therefore not surprising that senator Kipchumba Murkomen who was the senate majority leader and his deputy have been removed/axed by the president and replaced with West Pokot Senator Hon. Samuel Poghisio from the same region (Rift Valley), and from KANU-party in order to cement this coalition and to divide further the Rift Valley block.

In the aforementioned meetings which were held at the late president Daniel Arap Moi’s home in Kabarak- Nakuru , they resolved to back Rt Hon. Raila Odinga’s 2022, presidential bid , Odinga also promised to support Gideon Moi for presidency after him.

Therefore, by the four most powerful families coming together that is, Kenyatta’s family, Moi’s family, Odinga’s family and Kibaki’s family.
Ruto is definitely running out of options in his 2022, presidential race.

He is however expected to fight back but it will be extremely hard for him to convince Kenyans given his alleged corruption scandals.

Kenya decides 2022, all is set for Kenyans to enjoy it’s new constitution tested and worked.
