Police deny killing Bobi Wine Coordinator ‘Rita’

Uganda police has denied knocking dead a people Power coordinator Ms ritah Nabukenya On, Monday morning.

People Power coordinator Central region Namirembe Angella and his boss , Kyadondo East MP, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine accused police officers of knocking dead their member.

According to Bobi Wine, police officers in a patrol vehicle saw Nabukenya wearing a People Power attire, drove after her and knocked her dead.

However, Uganda police has denied all these allegations saying that Rita Nabukenya sustained serious injuries after she fell off a motorcycle UEY 675P that was trying to overtake a police patrol vehicle.

Nabukenya, a resident of Bunamwaya was rushed to Mulago hospital by a police patrol car but later succumbed to injuries she sustained during the accident according to police.

“Traffic Police at Jinja road police has opened up inquiries into the matter with the aim of ascertaining what exactly happened,” Police said.

Rita’s body has been conveyed to city mortuary Mulago for postmortem as investigations proceed

In a statement signed by ASP oweyiynge assured that they will retrieve the video to verify the claims

However by press time People Power supporters had gathered around Mulago to retrieve Ritah,’s body.

Police responded by teargasing the large crowds of Bobi Wine with live bullets.
