Isreal prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu visits Entebbe old Airport where Isreal commandos attacked in a mission to save nationals arrested by former Uganda President Idi Amin.

On his way back home at the end of his visit, PM Netanyahu and his wife Sara stopped by the old Entebbe International airport.

He paid respects to his brother who died during the Operation Thunderbolt, a successful counter-terrorist hostage-rescue mission.

The mission was carried out by commandos of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) at Entebbe Airport in Uganda on 4 July 1976 during President Idi Amin’s reign.

About five Israeli commandos were wounded and one unit commander Lt. Col. Yonatan Netanyahu, was killed.

Netanyahu was the older brother of Benjamin Netanyahu, the current Isreal PM.

Netanyahu and wife later seen off by Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda and his wife Jocelyne Rugunda and other government officials.

Uganda and Isreal are consolidating third relationship ever since president Museveni took over power in 1986.
