People Power Kyengera based coordinator Kavuma to face re-arrest

As we draw close to 2021 general elections in Uganda, security organise continue to arrest opposition leaders.

Kawuma Samuel Hannington wanted by police over organising People Power meetings in Kyengera Town Council.

A family member told Whisper Eye that security operatives come to them home in search for Samuel.

“We are in fear of the life of Kawuma, security operatives come to our home looking for him.” A relative said.

Samuel has been arrested on various occasions and released on police bond.

On 6th June 2019, Kawuma was picked by security operatives from his home in Kyengera, Wakiso district and detained.

“I got arrested from my home by police officers. They detained me at Old Kampala Central Police station,” says Kawuma.

“I was tortured, and charged with incitement of violence.” He stated .

Mr Kawuma is member Uganda Young Democrats (UYD) and fighting to create a peaceful transition of power in Uganda.

Many Opposition leaders are arrested and released on police bond after days.

However unpopular coordinators are detained for long period of time and at times are not taken to courts of law.

Recently People Movement leader the Kyadondo East legislator Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu also known as Bobi Wine complained to the Electoral Commission publicly over torture of his coordinators national wide.
