Zombo Vulnerable households supported with  iron sheets

About 20 most vulnerable and poverty-stricken  households from the 8 lower local government units in Okoro County, Zombo district , have been supported with  quality iron sheets, a move marking the beginning of their journey  from grass-thatched huts to a more Parmanent structures.

Sam Kumakech, the executive director of Smart  Sam’s Foundation, a Zombo based CBO  lobbied for this support, noting ”  that our purpose is to improve on the livelihood of people of Okoro Constituency-Zombo District & achieve infrastructural development” 

The  200 pieces of   iron sheets were   distributed to five different households each   in all the 8 Sub-Counties/Town councils in Okoro constituency-Zombo District.

Kumakech who worked as the information ,  youth and sports  director in Alur Kingdom,  commended those who extended their helping hands to bolster  this move.

Majority of the 312, 188 residents  of Zombo District still live in a semi-parmanent grass-thatched huts, notwithstanding the available resources like coffee and other food crops.

Kumakech reiterated the need for mindset change amongst the locals, calling upon   individuals to  extensively work hard to   empower themselves for improved livelihoods.

Recently, he donated a metallic bed to Padea Health center II, in Padea town council,  Zombo district.

Kumakech has in the recent past organized and mobilized resources locally, to construct Leda footbridge, that connects thousands of community from the two the Sub-Counties of Athuma and Abanga.

Community have expressed their happiness over this life changing move, adding that they will acquire more pieces to add  on the donated iron sheets to establish expansive Parmanent structures in their homes.

The distribution is a blessing to  Ovuru Vasco,  one of the beneficiaries from Avonu Agada Village, Amei Parish, Paidha Sub-County,  who commended Kumakech for this initiative, noting that he had  never bought a single piece of Iron sheets in his entire 40-years- of stay on earth.

He said he will use  the available resources to erect an accommodative structure for his family.

Kumakech Sam has since declared his intent of contesting as the MP of Okoro County, taking on the most entrenched incumbent MP Gabriel Okumu in the forthcoming NRM Party race.
