Police from Nyapea police Post in Nyapea Sub-county Zombo District have rescued a man identified as Dominick Osaga from a highly charged Mob, who attempted to lynch him for reportedly setting alight several huts belonging to the business community of Azuru trading centre in Angaba Lower Village, Mundel Parish, Nyapea Sub-county Zombo District.
The incident that happened in the wee hours of Thursday 1 January, left many properties destroyed and residents stranded.
An eyewitness and a resident of Azuru trading centre Kalo Jawiambe revealed that ” the suspect set alight the huts after developing a misunderstanding with one of the businessmen in the village”.
The LC1 chairperson of Angaba Lower Village, Mundel Parish John Opakrwoth, confirmed the incident saying the suspect was under the influence of alcohol.
” The suspect who was drunk has since been apprehended by Police after setting alight eleven huts. People wanted to lynch him but we rescued him and informed police who later came and picked him up for more investigation”.
