Over 50 critically injured as a truck carrying traders overturns in Zombo

A fuso truck with registration number UAH 2788 carrying more than fifty businessmen has overturned at Leda bridge in Afuda Parish Jangokoro sub county Zombo district today morning.

The truck was transporting traders from Paidha town council to Awasi weekly  Market in DRC.

Odoch, an eyewitness from Pakadha Parish said they rushed more than thirty people for first aid to Pakadha health centre III.

” Many people are seriously injured, we rushed them to Pakadha health centre III, some might die as a result of serious injuries they have sustained,”  He said.

A medical worker at Pakadha health centre III who is not allowed to speak to the media said “Many were referred to Rhema medical clinic Paidha town whilst others are on a drip as I talk now, it’s a terrible experience here”.

It’s reported that the truck driver swerved off the road whilst trying to dodge a boda boda rider riding on a Bajaj Motorcycle at a sharp Corner.

No death has been reported yet though many are admitted in critical condition, The district Councillor of Jangokoro sub-county David Arua has revealed.

From January to May this year, the west Nile sub_region has recorded over 50 deaths as a result of road crashes according to West Nile police.

Similarly today morning,  a California bus en route to Arua from Kampala overturned at Agwok trading centre in Thidwer village Padwot Sub_ county Nebbi district. There was no passenger on board.

A recent police report indicates that 12 people die of road crashes daily in Uganda.
