Uganda Security agencies have today released images of suspects behind allegedly bombings in Kamplaa.
The security made significant progress in their investigation into the IED detonations in Kampala by releasing composite images of suspected Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) terrorists involved in the incidents. Defense Deputy Spokesperson Col. Deo Akiiki announced a substantial bounty of Sh20 million for each individual, urging the public to report any sightings or information to security agencies.
The IEDs, identified as mechanical timer bombs, exploded in Kikubamutwe parish in Kabalagala, Makindye Division, and Nabweru in Nansana Municipality, Wakiso District. Col. Deo Akiiki detailed that the explosives were strategically placed by individuals who had rented premises in advance. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries reported from these explosions.
As investigations continue, heightened vigilance is advised, particularly with the festive season approaching. Security measures are emphasized, especially in areas such as transportation hubs, places of worship, entertainment venues, lodges, and bars. Security officials have urged the media to disseminate information to raise awareness and combat potential terrorist threats.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire reported that the explosions occurred at a chip-frying business in Kabalagala and an unoccupied rental in Nabweru. While there were no fatalities, a business owner sustained minor injuries. The police are actively investigating the causes of these blasts and seek the public’s cooperation in reporting any suspicious activities to ensure neighborhood safety and security.
The release of the composite images reflects the intensified efforts of security agencies to apprehend those responsible for the IED explosions, emphasizing the importance of community vigilance and cooperation in combating terrorist threats in Kampala.
