Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago vows to fight and bring justice to Kidney organ victim

Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has condemned the increasing cases of human organ harvesting in the country calling it criminal and inhuman. #WhisperEyeNews #UgandaNews

This follows an appeal to him by his constituent, Muhammad Kabanda a 25-year-old market vendor who was involved in a motorcycle accident, sustained head injuries, and was admitted at Old Kampala Hospital.

However, after a Ugx 3,600,000/- surgery was conducted for the head injuries sustained, he observed that he had fresh incisions around his lower left abdomen area. With the expertise of radiologists, the CT scan revealed that his Kidney had been harvested without his consent and will.

The Lord Mayor vowed to follow up on the matter and expressed his misgivings on the newly passed law, stating that it should have stopped all forms of commercializing organs. He encouraged the donation of organs by relatives and charitable endeavors but said anyone should not be forced to donate or have his organs removed without agreeing.

At one time, Presidential advisor Tamale Mirundi came out to complain about the cartel within the government that he said was involved in the organ harvesting deals with one of his daughters died in Mengo hospital while giving birth but it was discovered that some of her organs were harvested.
