Hon.Ruth Katushabe Advises Parents & Children on Responsibility at School Speech Days in Bukomansimbi

On Friday, November 22, 2024, Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs and Translations, Hon. Ruth Katushabe, was the chief guest at three different school speech days in Bukomansimbi District. The schools—Glorious Infant and Primary School in Lwemiliti Zone, Peak Education Center in Bulenge, and Ebenezer Junior School—welcomed the influential leader to share her insights with students and parents alike.

During her speeches, Hon. Katushabe stressed the importance of family values, urging parents to take extra care of their children as the holiday season approaches. She expressed concern over the negative behaviors that often arise in the holidays, such as teenage pregnancies among girls and harmful activities like smoking weed and theft among boys. She called on parents to remain vigilant and engaged in their children’s lives during this time.

Hon. Katushabe also advised the children to maintain respect for their parents, reminding them not to overindulge in leisure, but to dedicate time to study and learn new skills that would help them grow into productive citizens.

A strong advocate for national progress, Hon. Katushabe addressed the ongoing debate surrounding the transfer of Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) back to the Ministry of Agriculture. She reassured the audience that President Yoweri Museveni’s decision was made with the best interests of the country’s coffee growers in mind, seeking to improve the sector’s sustainability and profitability.

Hon. Katushabe also took the opportunity to talk about the ongoing rural electrification campaign. Having personally championed the initiative in Bukomansimbi, she informed the community that areas without electricity would soon be connected, as the necessary surveys and paperwork had already been completed. She emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring equal access to electricity across the country, which is expected to improve rural livelihoods.

Through her thoughtful contributions, Hon. Ruth Katushabe not only highlighted the importance of education and family values but also reinforced the positive steps the government, under the leadership of President Museveni, is taking to support Uganda’s development.
