Eleven people killed in an accident along the Kasese-Fort-Portal Highway

Eleven people have been killed in an accident along the Kasese-Fort-Portal Highway.

The accident which occurred on Tuesday at 9:40 pm between Rughendabara and Hima town council at Kihogo involved five cars which include two Canter trucks, a Hima Cement truck and two Premio cars.

Kimbombo Hamid, one of the survivors says that the first accident was a collision between a Premio registration number UAU 700U and the Canter truck UBF 968T, which was carrying electricity poles and UMEME workers. He adds that since the road was narrow and slippery the other three vehicles which were from Fort Portal, rammed into each other.

Mathus Okwir the Rwenzori East Regional traffic police officer says that they are investigating the cause of the accident.

The bodies are lying at Kasese municipal HCIII and the 10 injured are being treated from Kilembe hospital and St. Paul Health Centre III.
