Covid-19: Uganda records more 40 deadly pandemic cases as numbers rise to 457

Uganda on Monday morning reported 40 more covid-19 cases, the second highest daily figure after reporting 84 cases on Saturday last week bringing the tally of cases to 457. Whisper Eye Reports.

The recoveries reach 72 with no fatalities, according to the country’s Health Ministry.

In a statement signed by Dr Olaro Charles , 23 of these new cases are truck drivers as 20 of them arrived from South Sudan via Elegu point of entry, 2 arrived from Tanzania via Mutukula point of entry and 1 truck driver arrived via Padea point of entry. The report reads.

17 covid-19 cases are contacts of previous positive cases and alerts .Whisper Eye understands.

These include 2 from Gulu, 1 from Jinja, 3 from Amudat, 2 from Wakiso , 2 from Amuru , 1 from Yumbe , 2 from Zombo and 3 from Nebbi all districts of Uganda.

Outcry persists among Ugandans calling upon president Museveni to ban the entry of Truck Drivers.

He insisted this is suicidal as yesterday 7 Uganda health workers tested positive for the deadly pandemic which has killed hundreds around the globe.

52 foreign truck drivers were handed over to their respective countries.
