Bobi Wine stands in solidarity with Ugandan business community amid tax protests

As tensions rise within the Ugandan business community over oppressive taxes, the National Unity Platform President Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu commonly known as has voiced his unwavering support, denouncing the government’s actions as morally reprehensible.

In a recent statement, Bobi Wine condemned the exorbitant taxes imposed on businesses, highlighting the unjust allocation of funds to sustain the lavish lifestyles of President Museveni, his associates, and rampant corruption within the administration.

“What makes these taxes especially wrong and immoral,” Bobi Wine asserts, “is that most of the money collected goes to the luxurious and extravagant lifestyle of Gen. Museveni, his family and cronies, and then another big portion is lost through unabated corruption.”

Mr Wine emphasized the collective responsibility to rally behind the protesting traders, underscoring that the issue transcends individual interests to impact the entire nation. He warned of the cascading effects of high taxes, leading to soaring commodity prices that burden every citizen.

“We all have a duty to support and stand in solidarity with the protesting traders because it is not just their issue but our issue,” Bobi Wine affirmed.

As the Ugandan business community continues to mobilize against oppressive taxation policies, Wine’s vocal support serves as a beacon of solidarity and amplifies the urgent call for meaningful change.
