The MPs had for long been complaining about the brutality meted against them by police and other security agencies when they tried to organize women’s day celebrations.

This happened in Soroti, it happened in Mityana, Buvuma districts among other places and the latest being Buvuma district representative Hon Suzan Mugabi who was beaten to pulp by police when she organized a women’s day celebration.

Police have since summoned 11 police officers including the DPC of Buvuma district and will face the Police Standard Unity for disciplinary actions.

The Minister for Presidency Milly Babirye Babalanda has also summoned RDC accused of ordering for assault of opposition women representatives.

But today as the MPs tried to match to the internal affairs Ministry, they were barbarically arrested once against with some piled into police vans with torn gomesis and some sustaining minor injuries.

Police say their demonstration in the middle of the city would affect the movement of traffic and cause unnecessary tension among Ugandans who have come for work in the city.
