Seven people have been killed in a boat accident on Lake Victoria.
The seven were killed in the wee hours of this morning after the boat they were travelling on board from Lwanabatya Landing Site in Kyamuswa Sub County Kalangala district to Kasenyi landing site in Entebbe capsized in the lake.
There were nine people on the fishing boat. Four Women and 3 children drowned after their boat was hit by heavy winds.
The deceased have been identified as Gloria Amito, Grace Amito, Irene Amiya and Caroline Afoyoloti. The remaining are 3 Children aged 4 and 2 years respectively.
The survivors include Lawrence Nzage, the coxswain and Patrick Lubulwa who escaped death by holding on a jerrican and fuel tank.
Ronald Sagala, a relative to the deceased, says Gloria Amito and Irene Amito were heading to their home District of Masindi while Amito Grace and Afoloyoti Caroline were heading to Nebbi District with their children.
A search is on for the deceased’s bodies.
