In a swift operation in the  morning of June 12, 2025,  security forces in Terego District successfully recovered 17 stolen cattle following a high-speed pursuit in Suru Village, Nicu Parish, Biliafe Sub-County.

The operation, triggered by a tip-off from a vigilant resident and GISO , disrupted a suspected livestock theft syndicate targeting animal husbandry assets in the region.

At approximately 0400 hours, rapid response units intercepted a vehicle, registration number UBE665U, believed to be transporting stolen cattle toward Arua.

The driver ignored orders to stop, prompting security personnel to fire two warning shots.

A chase ensued, ending at Osu Bridge, where the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled.

A search of the vehicle uncovered seven head of cattle, while the Local Council One (LC1) reported an additional ten head abandoned in Suru Village, totaling 17 recovered livestock.

The cattle, now under secure holding, are undergoing veterinary inspection to assess their health and condition.

The rightful owner remains unidentified, and investigations are ongoing to trace the livestock’s origin.

The recovered vehicle has been impounded as evidence, with security forces intensifying efforts to apprehend the suspects.

SP Asea Collins, Police Regional Officer, commended the operation, stating, “This successful recovery demonstrates our unwavering commitment to combating livestock theft and protecting community animal husbandry resources. We urge residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.”
