Paidha united SC rung up the curtain on in their second league of the regional league journey with a comfortable 3-0 win over visitors Arua city FC at King Stadium Cana in Paidha town council, Zombo District on Sunday 23, February , 2025.
The Zombo based outfit started the game on high note, salvaging an early goal in the first half of the game, thanks to a strike by their talisman of the day called Ronie.
United raised their hope higher after midfielder Pogba put the ball past the visitors’s goalkeeper, giving the home side a 2-0 lead.
As the game inched towards the end of the first half, veteran striker Ronie was set by midfielder Pogba, only to be brought down at the edge of the box, giving united a free kick that never materialized.
Meanwhile Arua City FC equally kept the tempo of the game higher in the first half, pressing harder especially from the midfield, but their wingers were switched off by united defenders.
Striker Ronie again missed a glorious chance after firing a shot that hit wood work sending spectators wild.
As second half got tense, United Striker Ronald Ogencan booked the second yellow card of the game upon fouling Arua city defender.
Straw on camel’s back
In what seemed like a final nail on the coffin, United Striker Ronie headed home his second goal, giving united a comfortable advantage.
The home side failed to make it four after Midfielder Zaza hit another wood work in the second half that was highly dominated by Paidha united.
Paidha united’s comfortable win is attributed by their recent signings of four locally scouted quality players in the January transfer window, to bolster their squad. Two of the players featured in the debut.
Robert Orombi, the technical manager of Paidha United, praised his winning side, adding that upon recently tapping in four quality players, they are destined for big league next season.
” We are eyeing the top position in Nyagak Zone, we want to be number one and our focus is on big league” Orombi told this Publication in a post-match presser at King stadium Cana.
Meanwhile the head coach of Arua city Saidi Aloro, lauded his boys for playing their heart out amidst fatigue and absence of key players who have returned to school.
” We came here after a long journey, the fatigue affected the game but all in all our boys played their hearts out, we have a challenge at the moment because most of our players are in school, but we encourage our fans to continue supporting us” Aloro said in a post-match presser.
Paidha united will travel over 50 kilometres away to Arua district, to face Ovisoni FC.
Paidha united in the previous seasons has been having a challenge of finishing high in the second leagues , their technical manager Robert Orombi assured fans, saying ” we have signed four quality players to ensure we finish on a high note”
Paidha united finished 3rd on the log in the first league after Nebbi Central and Kuluva rainbow in first and second positions respectively.
In another regional league debut, the table leader Nebbi Central salvaged 3 points from Ovisoni in Arua district, meanwhile Arua airfield played 0-0 with Pakwach young stars.
