Authorities in Arua district have in custody an unidentified woman from Embeva village, Vura,. Arua district for reportedly torturing and inflicting burns on the genitals of her 4-year-old child, for urinating on her clothes.
Police said she did it “reportedly as a form of punishment for urinating on her clothes”
Authorities withheld the identities of the suspect and victim.
West Nile region Police Spokesperson SP Collins Asea in a statement on January 22, 2025 confirmed the cruel act of the suspect, attributing it to “disputes over inadequate resources for household necessities”
” The Police in Arua Vurra District received information from local leaders of Embeva Village concerning allegations of aggravated torture involving a minor. reports indicated that the suspect, identified as the mother of the victim, inflicted burns on the victim’s private parts, reportedly as a form of punishment for urinating on her clothes” Asea’s statement reads in part.
Asea added ” incident is said to have been linked to a dispute over inadequate resources for household necessities”
A case of aggravated torture has been registered at Arua Police Station in Arua district under CRB 028/2025.
Police have promised to intensively investigate this hair-raising incident to it’s logical conclusion while upholding the rights of all parties involved.
