Students arrested for causing strike  at St Charles Lwanga College  Koboko

Police in Koboko  have swiftly responded   and arrested  student ringleaders who influenced civil unrest at St Charles Lwanga College Koboko in the afternoon of  October 26, 2024.

According to a statement from Police, a section of S.4 Students,went on rampage destroying  the school window glasses, after the school headteacher warned them against unauthorized night movements out of the school premises.

” At around 5:30 PM, the Headteacher of St. Charles Lwanga SS reported a case involving students from the Senior Four class. According to the Headteacher, after warning the students about unauthorized absences from school grounds and returning late at night, The students allegedly threaten head boy, and three other teachers warned against leaving school grounds and returning late at night.. Some students reportedly escalated the situation by throwing stones at the building’s windows and disturbing other students during late-night hours” SP Collins Asea, The West nile region acting Police spokesperson statement reads in part.

Asea added ” a formal case of threatening violence has been filed against the ringleaders under reference number SD 41/26/10/2024.”

Police said security has been heightened at the school,  to ensure the safety of all students and staff, adding that a thorough investigation is ongoing  to understand the full extent of the incident.
