Members of Parliament from Zombo district have Urged Parliament to give priority to tarmack major national roads linking to Democratic Republic Congo. The roads leads to major border points in West Nile and working on it will generate more revenue and improve security.
This was when the MPs were debating on the report by the committee of physical infrastructures that failed to bring to the attention of the house about the critical 130kms Nebbi-Goli-Paidha-Padea-Zombo-Zeu-Warr-Vurra road in Arua district.
Deliberating on this matter the Ora county member of Parliament Laurence SONGA Biyika advises the Parliament to pay attention and tarmack the 130kms roads that connects to gazetted five revenue generating border points customs such as Goli, Padea, Golaju, Ameri and Vurra-Odramacako.
According to MP Songa, the feasibility study of these roads has already been completed and President Museveni while for thanks giving of Minister mineral and energy Phiona Nyamutoro, told the people of West Nile sub-region that the road should be tarmack and that funds should be allocated for it.
Songa told the speaker to resolve on the matter of tarmacking this road tomorrow when the report will be adopted.
Zombo district woman MP Esther Afoyocan backed the Songa Proposal by adding weight on the this road drawing attention of the speaker.
President Museveni will grace the Parliament sitting tomorrow.
These MPs remarks came when the MPs hailing from Acholi dominated the debate on physical infrastructures inorder for the government to tarmack the internal roads which deserved to be handled in future.
The MPs hailing from Karamoja sub-region equally raised concern over the insecurity at the borders threatening the tranquility of the ordinary citizens emphasizing that it’s pertinent to deal with roads which are connections to the borders.
The report of the committee physical infrastructure will be adopted tomorrow in the presence of the president according to the speaker Among.
