SPA/PA Hon. Ruth Katushabe Eulogizes the Passing of Mr. Tamale Mirundi

Kampala, Uganda –

The nation is mourning the loss of Mr. Joseph Tamale Mirundi, a Senior Presidential Advisor on Media, who passed away on Tuesday evening at a hospital in Kisubi along Entebbe Road. The late Mr. Tamale Mirundi was known for his fierce dedication and boldness in his service to the nation, particularly during his 14 years as the Presidential Press Secretary before assuming the role of Senior Presidential Advisor on Media.

Hon. Ruth Katushabe, the Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs and Translations, expressed deep sorrow over the passing of her colleague. In a heartfelt message, she said, “I am deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Tamale Mirundi, a dedicated Senior Presidential Advisor on Media. His unwavering commitment and powerful voice will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. May he rest in peace.”

Mr. Tamale Mirundi’s passing marks the end of an era for a man whose influence on Uganda’s political communication was profound. His unique style, characterized by sharp wit and fearless commentary, earned him both admiration and criticism, but undeniably left a lasting impact on the media landscape in Uganda.

Funeral Program for Mr. Joseph Tamale Mirundi

The funeral program for the late Mr. Tamale Mirundi has been outlined as follows:

  • Wednesday, 14th August 2024: A vigil and Mass will be held at his residence in Zana.
  • Thursday, 15th August 2024: A Requiem Mass will be held at St. Gyaviira Catholic Church in Bunamwaya at 10:00 AM. Following the Mass, the body will be returned to his Zana residence for an overnight vigil.
  • Friday, 16th August 2024: The body will be taken to his Kyengera residence for a Mass at 10:00 AM, followed by another overnight vigil.
  • Saturday, 17th August 2024: The body will depart for Kalagala Village in Kaliisizo, Kyotera District, where a vigil will be held.
  • Sunday, 18th August 2024: The burial ceremony will commence at 10:00 AM at Kalagala Village, Kaliisizo in Kyotera District.

As Uganda bids farewell to Mr. Tamale Mirundi, the government and the people remember him for his relentless service to the country. His legacy, particularly in the realms of media and political communication, will continue to resonate for years to come.
