Why road crashes are hiking in Nebbi

Yesterday, A  fuso truck with registration no UAG 615 Y transporting traders from Panyimur Town Council To Arua overturned at Acwera bridge in Thidwer village ,  Padwot Sub-county , Nebbi District leaving one person dead on spot mean while the other  22  passengers onboard survived with minor injuries.

Similarly, on Sunday, A truck transporting traders from Zombo to Panyimur Town Council overturned at Jupangira Sub-county in Nebbi District leaving one person dead and scores injured Sunday Ogenmungu, The LC III chairperson of Jupangira Sub-county blamed the accident on the sorry state of the UNRA road that he said is riddled with potholes.

Giving insights about these harrowing rampant  accident cases in the area , The   District Police Commander of Nebbi SSP Aminsi Kayondo , blames these accidents to mechanical condition of the trucks further tasking the truck drivers and traffic officers to regularly check the mechanical condition of the trucks.

Kayondo calls for caution on the road further clarifying about the sorry state of roads in the District.

Recently, Fred Byamukama,  whilst tabling report about the sorry state of road in the area told Parliament that the UNRA road in greater Nebbi is frequently maintained by UNRA Arua office, which is hardly seen in the area.

This is coming at a time when Many truck  drivers are  complaining of the story states of roads in the area notwithstanding other accident related cases.

The 2023 police anual crime report indicates that about 25 ugandans die of accidents and murder related incidents daily.
