UAHEB On The Spot For Failing 2023 Candidates Over Log Book Discordance

It is tears and curses from the 2023 Uganda Allied Health Examination Board candidates (UAHEB) many of who are going to miss graduation after their Examination board ordered them to retake the log book work over what it called plagiarism and forgery.

The most affected are the candidates from the Fort Portal school of clinical officers (146), Gulu school of clinical officers (117) Vine Paramedic (15), Uganda College Health Sciences Bwindi (12), Mild May (60), Gulu Institute (46) where all the candidates in these classes were given logbook retakes.

At Medicare health professionals in Mengo out of the 120 candidates, 45 was given retakes. Other affected medical schools include Mbale School of Clinical Officers where 94 out of 114 failed, Uganda Institute of Allied Health Management Science Mulago, Indian Institute of Health and Allied Sciences, among others.

According to UAHEB, the candidates failed to do what was required for these log books with some faulted for forging signatures while others for simply copying from friends.

It has been understood by this media that UAHEB summoned some of these students on the 22nd of February this year and ordered them to explain.

According to UAHEB, these candidates have been given a 6 month ultimatum to redo the log log book work at their own cost ( 30,000 shs for a new log book and 50,000shs for the retake fee.)

However according to the affected candidates, the examination board has not been fair to them especially when they weren’t taught on how to fill the logbooks and what exactly was required to be filled in.

The candidates further complained that they worry the institutions they study from are going to ask for full tuition since they are nolonger continuing students.

Others are already in tears as they are going to miss on the graduation lists which may affect their search for jobs as they won’t be having transcripts and certificates to prove that they are qualified health workers.

We tried to contact the Executive Secretary of UAHEB Mr Joseph Angondua for a comment but could not pick our calls.
