A Community-Based organization called Smart Sam Service Foundation in Zombo District, has started equipping with scholastic materials children of the all boda boda riders who perished in road crashes last year.
Last year, there was a damning report about death by accidents of several boda boda riders in the district.
Many Children are left without the much-needed support and lack of basic requirements to take them back to school.
On many occasions, the widows have been voicing concerns about the challenges they are going through.
It’s against the backdrop of their public outcry, that some well-wishers like Smart Sam service foundation have stepped in.
Smart Sam’s Service Foundation, the C.B.O that has stepped in to support the needy children started with orphans from Nyapea Sub-county and will proceed to other parts of the District.
The scholastic materials amongst others include exercise books, geometrical sets, pens, and school uniforms.
Sam Kumakech, The executive director of the organisation notes that they started with families of seven departed riders from Nyapea Sub-county and will proceed to other areas across the District.
He said “We as the organization planned to help these children when I was invited to Nyapea Sub-county last year for prayers organized for the departed riders. I promised to help them and here I come to fulfil the promise I made “.
Kumakech rallied other well-wishers to step in and offer necessary assistance to the orphans.
Fred Onenarach, The Chairperson of Zombo District Boda Boda Association commended the ” organization for the great initiative before appealing to other organizations and well-wishers to come to the aid of the orphans”.
Francis Ubedgiu, The Chairperson Nyapea Boda Boda Association has Commended the organization for the great stride.
Last year, more than 10 members of the Zombo District Boda Boda Association died in different road crashes within and outside Zombo, according to the leadership of the Zombo District Boda Boda Association.
Last year, the Smart Sam service foundation also repaired a pivotal footbridge that connects the Athuma and Jangokoro Sub-counties eliciting joy amongst locals who used to bear the brunt of the appalling state of the footbridge.
Relatedly, The organization last year launched the campaign of equipping all Health Centre II facilities with hospital beds.
