VP Alupo in New York for UN General Assembly

After a successful G77 Conference in Cuba where she represented President Museveni, H.E the Vice President Jessica Alupo arrived in New York to attend the the 78th United Nations General Assembly. #WhisperEyeNews

This year’s Assembly is running under the theme ‘Rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity: Accelerating action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals towards peace, prosperity, progress and the sustainability for all’.

The Assembly opened today with a High level forum on Sustainable Development Goals.

Later in the day, the Vice President held a brief chat with the
IGAD Secretary General, Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu and later met H.E. Faustin-Archange Touadéra, President of the Central African Republic. The two leaders exchanged ideas on a number of bilateral issues. Alupo extended greetings from President Museveni and invited him to the Non Aligned Movement meeting (NAM) and G-77 and China summits that will be hosted in Uganda in 2024.

During the summit, the Vice President is expected to participate in several high-level bilateral engagements aimed at strengthening partnerships.

The Vice President is accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister-Gen Jeje Odong, Minister of State in charge of General duties-also focal person in charge of SDG, Kasule Lumumba and other officials.
