Nakaseke district 2021 Woman MP contestant Esther Nakawooya led a team from Inner Wheel Club of Kampala and Canada-based Sleeping Children Around the World (SCAW) charity organizations to Nakaseke and donated 550 sleeping kits to 550 school-going children aged 6-12yrs from several families across the District.
The project which recognizes the importance of sleep in the mental and physical development of children, the distribution was held at Ssegalye village and met beneficiaries coming from the sub-counties of Nakaseke, Ssemuto, Kapeeka, Wakyato, Kikamulo, Kasangombe, Butalangu, Kinoni, Kito and the town councils of Ssemuto, Kiwoko, Nakaseke, and others.
Ms. Nakawooya told Whisper Eye News that one-bed kit contains a mattress, blanket, mosquito net, sleeping pajamas, slippers, school supplies such as a school bag, pencil case, pencils, stationery, books, shoes, clothing, a basin, and other items, adding that, “This is done out of my will to serve people.
I want to thank my fellow members at the Inner Wheel Club of Kampala under the UK-based International Inner Wheel for the distribution in Nakaseke District which has benefited our children from mostly less privileged families. We shall continue lobbying for more opportunities to provide alternative solutions to challenges that affect our people’s living standards in Nakaseke.”
Sleeping Children Around the World has helped more than 1.7 million children in over 36 countries around the globe.
This year in Partnership with the Inner Wheel Club of Kampala, 7000 will be distributed in Uganda in the areas of Nakaseke, Wakiso, Kayunga, Pallisa, Kamuli, Namutumba, Bukedea, Kaliro, and Kumi.
