Gen Otafire’s son, Che Ernesto, a soldier denies presidential ambitious

Social Media has been awash by news linking Gen Otafiire, the Minister for Internal Affairs to a covert move that he was preparing his son Ernesto Otafiire for a future Uganda Presidential bid. #WhisperEyeNews Reports

Afande Ernesto, a military officer trained at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst ( was however quick to clear the air saying that nothing of the sort had been mentioned by his father anywhere and thus those spreading such have their own personal agendas and are trying to create unnecessary tension between the Otafiire family and Gen Museveni’s family.

“My friend @Kyagulanyist, on Twitter Gen.Otafiire has never uttered such a statement. My kind advice to you is to abandon the people who are manufacturing this, if it’s yourself, then don’t get caught up in other people’s wars. Muchas Gracias!” Afande Ernest told one of the bloggers who was spreading the rumor.

The Otafiires

Afande Ernest also added that he is a soldier, not a politician, and thus people should not involve him in such nonsense.

He however said that it is not written anywhere that Generals or sons of Generals have exclusive rights to be presidents of Uganda but any Ugandan citizen who the people vote for whether competent or not can be President.

“It isn’t written anywhere that Generals or sons of Generals have exclusive rights to be presidents of Uganda, any Ugandan citizen who the people vote for whether competent or not, can be President.
I am a soldier, not a politician, kin.

Unnecessary accounts on Twitter continue to quote Otafire as championing his son’s presidency putting him against Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba who recently is on the move clearing campaigning to succeed his father President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at the highest Uganda political office.

Although the constitution of Uganda bars a serving military officer to engage in partisan politics, various military officers are actively practicing politics serving even before retiring. from the armed forces.

General David Rubakuba Muhoozi currently serves as the Minister of State for Internal Affairs, and Gen Katumba Wamala serves as Minister for Works and Transport among others.
