Ug2021: Bobi Wine acquires big support from a top American campaign company to defeat Museveni

UgDecides2021: Bobi Wine acquires big support from a top American campaign company to defeat Museveni .

The National Unity Platform party presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu has secured the services of a Washington based international data-driven campaign and strategy company, GQR to help him win the presidential elections in Uganda.

ChimpReports has exclusively learned that GQR senior officials, particularly its London based vice president, Jonathan Moakes, on Tuesday December 1, 2020 wrote letters to prominent political and business personalities in London seeking for a virtual meeting between them and Bobi Wine.

The GQR vice president, who is also the chief strategist for the South African official opposition party, Democratic Alliance (DA), said the international support is being sought to “enable a free and fair elections” in Uganda and make Bobi Wine win.

“As you are aware, Bobi Wine is standing for election as President in Uganda’s forthcoming election scheduled for 14 January 2021, the purpose of the appointment is to ask for your support in enabling free and fair elections to take place in Uganda so that voice of Ugandan people can be heard,” said part of a letter seen by this reporter.

The letter went on to say Museveni’s 34 years’ rule has resulted to misery and poverty and the only people succeeding are those connected to the state.

What’s GQR?

GQR Company, according to its website, has provided precise, penetrating opinion research and sophisticated, data-driven strategies for candidates, parties, government leaders, corporations, and advocacy groups across the United States and around the world for nearly four decades.

Managed by mainly PhD holders from the fields of psychology and research, GQR worked for Bill Clinton, former United States President 1994-2001, former vice president Al Gore, who got more popular votes than George Bush in the 2000 presidential elections but the latter was declared the winner after getting more electors. The case went to U.S Supreme Court.

In the last U.S elections where Democrat, Joe Biden emerged the winner, GQR partnered with the DNC (Democratic National Committee), DSCC (Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee) and DCCC (Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee) to execute “effective and offensive” campaign strategy. Its team advised more than 150 Democratic campaigns up and down the ballot, including successful Senate battlegrounds and 100+ Congressional campaigns.

In Africa, GQR has worked in the campaigns of former presidents Joyce Banda of Malawi, Nelson Mandela and Thabo Mbeki of South Africa and Raila Odinga of Kenya.

In 2017 both Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta procured the services of American and Canadian companies to help them with campaigns. Raila’s foreign experts were however deported by the government.

GQR has also worked with Chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer; Austria, President Eduardo Duhalde; Argentina, Prime Minister Julia Gillard; Australia, Prime Minister Perry Christie; The Bahamas, President Gonzalo Sanchez de Lozada; Bolivia, President Mauricio Funes; El Salvador, Prime Minister Mart Laar and IRL; Estonia, Chancellor Gerhard Schröder and Germany Prime Minister Ehud Barak; Israel among others.

Efforts to get a comment from Hon. Kyagulanyi on the matter were futile as he didn’t pick our multiple calls. His Spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi said he is not aware of the development while contacted.

When contacted on phone, the Government Spokesperson, Ofwono Opondo disproved the narrative made by the GQR vice president saying Uganda is in poverty misery.

“We are in an election and people challenging us or their agents are free to air out views but they should know that the voters have eyes and seeing the accomplishments of NRM,” said Ofwono.

Adding: “Uganda under President Museveni has registered tremendous development being felt from border to border.”

Ofwono mentioned the GDP growth at over 6% average for the past over 20 years, life expectancy increasing from 43 in 1991 to 64 in 2019, infant mortality rate decreasing from 110 per 1,000 births in 1991 to 43 per 1,000 births in 2019 and maternal mortality rate decreasing from 569 per 100,000 in 1995 to 336 per 100,000 in 2019.

He also said Ugandans are increasingly getting access to clean water, electricity and other social services.

“The progress is everywhere and as I talk to you now I am in Zombo for the launch of industrial to skill young people and make them productive,” said Ofwono.
