Bobi Wine survives arrest at Magere, assures Kyadondo East that he is running for president in 2021. Whisper Eye Reports.
Uganda popstar and the leading Uganda opposition figure , political sergeant Bad Bobi Wine whose real name is Kyagulanyi Sentamu while meeting People Power Members of Kyadondo East constituency survived arrest by Police which stormed his constituency Office at Magere, Wampewo just moments after he had left.
Angrily and heavily armed Police men with tough orders searched Mr Wine offices and neighbouring houses and shops but in no vain.
They remain camped near his Magere based house by press time , its believed the said police raid, Sewaguma Asaph, the Speaker Kasangati Town Council was arrested.
Whisper Eye has learnt that Bobi Wine Monday afternoon interaction with his Kyadondo People Power Leaders interrupted by Police is a routine management meeting where he monitors service delivery to his constituents through leaders.
That prior to Police Interruption, Bobi Wine reassured his Kyadondo East People Power leaders that he will not seek the seat of a member of Parliament for Kyadondo East come 2021 elections.
MP Robert Kyagulanyi , said he is concerned about liberating Uganda leaving his constituency which he won with over 78% in 2017.
As the leader of a popular movement known as People Power , Mr Wine has captured the imagination of many Ugandans who want to end Yoweri Kaguta Museveni rule who has held power since 1986 and he will seek a sixth term.
In a meeting held with the leaders of Kyadondo East at his offices in Magere , Bobi Wine assured the leaders that he is standing for president come 2021.
Bobi Wine emphasised that what is at stake is the plight of the people. ‘”we must stand with all forces of change to liberate our people ‘”; he said.
He announced this after his team comprised of 30 members and that of people’s government led by Kizza Besigye addressed a joint Press conference at Floral Hotel calling for a joint effort to end Museveni rule.
Among the likely replacement is lawyer Muwanda Nkunyingi who stood with Bobi Wine in 2017 but immediately and surprisingly joined Bobi Wine on his victory party, conceded defeat and started working closely with Bobi WIne.
He has been very close to Bobi Wine in his various community development programmes within Kyadondo.
It is not surprising that Muwada was among the top leaders present in the Bobi Wine- People Power Kyadondo East constituency meeting according to the group photos traced by Whisper Eye .
Muwanda being a lawyer with vast experience has bailed out hundreds of people power members jailed mainly for political reasons in the country.
Others most likely to enter the race to replace Bobi Wine include NRM Sitenda Sebalu who is likely to retain his NRM ticket who lost to Bobi Wine in the by election.
