Passengers who are using public means of transport to places of work have today protested new taxi fares drafted by Kampala Taxi Operators Association.

Last week president Museveni eased lockdown on public transport where he allowed taxi to report to work again with strict directives.

Among the directives are; a Fourteen-seater to carry have of its full capacity which is seven (7) passengers.

Each and every taxi must must have a sanitizer and operators must put on masks.

Every passenger must have a face mask, and wash hands before entering the taxi with soap or sanitizer.

On various stages many passengers have been seen negotiating with taxi operators for a reduction on the taxi fares.

Early this week, the Kampala Taxi Operators Association released the new taxi fares.

‘The new adjusted taxi fares are as follows, and can be revised upwards given the prevailing circumstances due to half capacity carriage policy issued by Government,’ says the Association Chairman.

“Note that these fares apply to Kampala Metropolitan and surrounding Areas, he said”
