Mpigi district council meeting has approved the district budget of ugx 39bn for the financial year 2020/2021.

Secretary for Finance, Planning, Administration and Investment hon Mpanga Faisal presented the Budget proposal to the district council meeting held at the district headquarters in Mpigi Town Council yesterday.

There was drama in the council hall over the supplementary budget of ugx 60m collected from Members of Parliament.

Mpigi District Woman MP Nakawunde Sarah, and Mawokota South MP John Bosco Lubyayi returned the controversial ugx 20m to the district Covid-19 task force.

However Mawokota North MP hon Ameria Kyambadde returned the ugx 20m to parliament before the court order and president Museveni’s advice.

Since then the parliament has failed to sent the 20m on the district account despite minister Ameria’s efforts.

Thus the district council passed the supplementary budgey of ugx 40m which was deposited on the district account.

The council was presided over by the district speaker Mr Rogers Ssejjemba ended prematurely in fear of 7:00PM Covid-19 pandemic curfew.

Mr Ssejjemba allocated limited time to councillors to deliberate on serious issues and even when the district Covid-19 task force chairperson Ms Rosemary Byabasaija was presenting Covid-19 updates to the council the speaker limited her in fear of curfew.
