How Kigezi sub region energized Museveni’s 2021 presidential bid, laughs at opposition . Whisper Eye Reports.

Uganda President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Wednesday had a big rally at Murora Subcounty, Bufumbira East Constituency, Kisoro District.

It is one of the biggest rallies in the last two decades to Mr Museveni since Rtd Col. Dr Kiiza Besigye joined opposition politics.

According to electoral commission statistics the people of this sub county voted overwhelmingly for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in the previous presidential elections with the highest percentage of votes in Kigezi region.

“With this mandate, the NRM has been able to to carry out infrastructure developments in the area for example tarmacking the Kabale-Kisoro road, electricity, schools and now piped water, restored peace and unity in the region,” says Mr Museveni.

“These have laid a good foundation for development.” He added.

The president asked residents of the region to use the opportunity of the both infrastructural development and natural factors to fight poverty.

“Therefore the people of Murora and Kigezi region in general ought to maximally take advantage of this environment to develop, by improving their household incomes through commercialising agriculture, small scale industries.” President remarked.

In his speech Mr Museveni promised that his government is going to work on the roads that lead to the major tourist attractions in the region.

With hope to boost the economy in the region.

“I appeal to the people of Kigezi region to abandon the practice of land fragmentation because this disables land as the small units cannot be used for farming that is commercially viable.” He said.

Thousands of people that attended the rally gave Mr Museveni hope, laughing at opposition which has failed to unity against him as 2021 presidential elections draw closure.
