Uganda’s Prime Minister, Rt. Hon.Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda flagged off 28 cars worth USD 1.4M procured by UNICEF with funding from GAVI to support immunisation in districts countrywide.

The embattled Covid-19 National Task Force is to use these cars as an extra push to fight against Covid-19 in Uganda.

While receiving the cars, Dr Rugunda appreciated the stellar work of the regional referral hospitals and the health workers in Uganda.

‘The Regional Referral Hospitals have demonstrated that the systems in Uganda, our people, doctors, nurses and health care providers are ready to treat traditional problems and new problems like COVID-19,’ says Dr Rugunda.

Minister of Health Dr Jane Ruth Aceng asked Health workers in districts to use vehicles to enhance immunisation.

“We want all districts to use these vehicles to enhance immunisation and fighting Covid-19.” she stated.

‘We should enhance all essential medical services during the response,’ Dr Aceng said.

A total of 71 cars have been procured under this funding and will also support COVID-19 response activities.
