MAYOR BITOKOTE COMMISSIONS WATER IN KYENGERA, ENDS YEARS OF WATER CRISIS

KYENGERA: Kyengera Town Council Mayor, SSALONGO SEMUGERA JOSEPH BITOKOTE alias Anko Biito has commissioned clean piped water from the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), ending years of water scarcity in several villages.

Jubilation engulfed villages of Nabiingo, Kugwanya, Bataka, Kiyanja, Tega, Nakitokolo and neighboring areas as taps started flowing for the first time.

During his campaign trail, Mayor Bitokote identified lack of clean water as the biggest problem choking the Town Council, with residents relying on unsafe wells and walking kilometers to access clean water.

He promised that by August next year, every corner of the Town Council would be connected to National Water – a promise he has now fulfilled.

According to the Mayor, he immediately engaged NWSC management after assuming office, leading to the Corporation acquiring plots in different parts of the Town Council where water pumping stations have been installed to permanently solve the crisis.

Currently, every household with a tap in the beneficiary areas is receiving clean water.

The project aligns with the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6, which calls for availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.

Mayor Bitokote was accompanied by his Minister Hon. Nakyeyune Hadijja, Hon. Nabanyiga Ritah, Chairman Kalema Yusufu and members of the LC council.

Residents praised the Mayor as a man of action, saying he has proved that when he promises, he delivers.
