Today, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni hosted the Russian Foreign Minister at State House Entebbe amidst the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine backed by NATO.

During his brief speech, Gen Museveni said that Uganda does not take orders from any foreign state as to who to deal with or not adding that he will deal with any country he prefers.

“We want to trade with Russia. We want to trade with all countries of the world. We don’t believe in being enemies of somebody’s enemy, No! We want to make our own enemies not fight other people’s enemies. ” Gen Museveni said

The 4 star General also asked the Russian Minister to inform his boss President Putin that Uganda wants to pattern with Russia to build a nuclear power plant in the country.

Russia has since February been under severe sanctions ever since it invaded Ukraine. The US and other NATO members asked the world to avoid using Russian products as one of the tactics to weaken the country economically.
